OPEN GREEN opens on May 26th. Seminar series of the Agricultural Library

The Agricultural Library of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria offers a series of online seminars entitled "OPEN GREEN: Green beyond the screen". Until November 2020, the initiative foresees six meetings with authors who, starting from recently published texts, will analyze from various points of view the importance of green for the well-being of human societies and the ecosystems on which we depend. Interesting and current topics will be addressed such as: arboriculture and urban forestry, monumental trees, popular wisdom and proverbs on the soil, the cultural debate in the forest sector, agriculture in the city, the design and planning of green areas.
The inaugural seminar will take place on Tuesday 26 May at 11:00 am. Prof. Giovanni Sanesi (University of Bari "Aldo Moro") will be the guest who will present the recent volume "Guidelines on Urban and Periurban Forestry", the result of the work of the specific permanent Working Group of FAO, in which the same speaker participates. In the following meetings, equally illustrious guests will alternate: Rosario Schicchi (University of Palermo, Director of the Botanical Garden of Palermo), Paola Adamo (University "Federico II" of Naples, President of the Italian Society of Soil Science), Paolo Mori (Director of the magazine “Sherwood / Forests and trees today), Lionella Scazzosi (Polytechnic of Milan, Director of PaRID), Alessandro Toccolini (University of Milan). The initiative joins the national event "May of books".

The seminars, lasting a maximum of two hours, will take place on the Microsoft Teams platform, in a dedicated team (name: OPEN GREEN - Green beyond the screen / pin code: 5jjn1cf). For those who do not join the team, the link to participate in the individual events will be made known on the web page of the Department of Agriculture ( and on other social media, a few days before the scheduled date. . Participants with registered presence will receive a certificate useful for the achievement of CFU.
